Well, time to review another smartphone. Right now the smartphone market is very competitive, and the competition among the best brands is getting hotter. The top smartphone companies are going to any extent for their sales. The smartphones have gone through so much alteration over the past years, as we have seen. The customers, on the other hand are getting smarter just like smartphones. But they just expect a lower price for best smartphones!
Yes, we can see many smartphone brands are working very hard to give the best smartphone for their every product launch. But almost every big name’s flagship smartphones fails at certain things or features. But few brands always impress us with different flagship phones. But one of the top company does this to flagship phones and budget smartphones – ASUS. Asus is dominating the smartphone market we all well know within 3 Years of its launch in Smartphone Market. ASUS started long series of Zenfones last year, and this year they made notable changes in the smartphone. Now Zenfone 3 has launched! Now, lets me tell you how it’s able to compete with the other smartphones in the same price bracket in the market. Check out my detailed Review on ASUS Zenfone 3.
Hardware Specifications, Connectivity, and Packaging!
The design ASUS used for the packaging is simplistic and minimalistic, yet also beautiful. The top side of the box holds just the Zenfone 3 name in the center. Asus determined to make a significant change to attract more users. So in Zenfone 3 they have given a cosmetic makeover for this smartphone.
Hardware: ASUS ZenFone 3 it runs on a 64-bit Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and a Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset. Zen Phone 3 aided by an Adreno 506 graphics chipset. Regarding memory, the ASUS ZenFone 3 come with 3 or 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM memory, and with 32 or 64GB of built-in storage space, depending on the model that you buy in the market. Furthermore what you notice from the start, if you want to expand your smartphone’s storage capacity, you can also add a MicroSD card of up to 2TB.
Connectivity: ZenFone 3 is a dual SIM smartphone, it can work with two SIM cards at the same time. It can connect to 4G mobile network (although only one SIM can use 4G at a time). Built-in Bluetooth 4.2 chip for close range wireless connections are pretty good. Regarding wireless connectivity, it works with a network chip that’s compatible with the 802.11 networking standards so that it can connect to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks!
Package: ASUS ZenFone 3 smartphone, power charger, removable USB to USB Type-C cable, headphones, a set of earbuds with different sizes, metal pin for ejecting the SIM card tray out, of course, the warranty card, quick start guide and some other documentation.
My first impression when I opened the package and looked at the ASUS ZenFone 3 I had to feel of holding a premium device in my hands. Zenfone 3 is made up of Glass & Metal Fusion. Both rear and front panels protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection, and even the phone edges made out of metal.
Display and Multimedia!
Asus Zenfone 3 comes with a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch Full HD Super IPS (1920 x 1080) Display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection. The viewing angles are magnificent; the colors are rich and vibrant and the text looks splendid. Aside from the excellent display, Zenfone 3 models also come with high-quality loudspeakers with built-in equalizer.
I must mention about audio quality. The loudspeaker on the ASUS ZenFone 3 is not bad when playing media files and ASUS even put the “5 magnet speaker” on it. But, I can’t say it was excellent overall. It has distorting sounds at times but if you want good audio quality, a good set of headphones will offer a better result.
ZenFone 3 also comes with different sensors. Overlooking the current sensors like the accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity or ambient light sensor, ASUS also included a fingerprint scanner on the back, which you can use to unlock the smartphone or authenticate in various apps.
Fingerprint Sensor – it’s a pretty good one. After setting it up, unlocking the smartphone was as easy as taking it in my hand. The sensor is positioned in the perfect place for my index finger to press, so it’s almost a natural movement to unlock the smartphone. That’s an efficiency rate that’s quite good in our opinion.
ASUS Zenfone 3 has a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX318 sensor and Laser AutoFocus. I have tested out the camera in both indoor and outdoor conditions. I have noticed a slight drop in quality in indoor, but outdoor pictures were good, and colors were superb.
Front-facing Camera (Selfie Camera) has an 8-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture, and wide-angle lens. Again selfie’s in indoor condition, and low-light suffered a bit. But outdoor selfie’s comes out great – a delight for all selfie lovers. The camera of ZenFone 3 – it’s simply brilliant. I’ve never seen the amazing details of the images I’ve taken from such a semi-high cost mobile phone. I’ve tried almost all the modes in the camera & really liked the HDR Pro mode.
OS and Software!
ASUS Zenfone 3 is running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Zen UI 3.0. The new Zen UI is much better than the previous versions. I have a small problem with the device which disturbs me, Bloatware! But still, we can uninstall the unwanted or unused apps. Good news is the UI is customizable so that you can download your favorite themes.
Zenfone 3 uses the same 3,000mAh Li-Po battery employed in previous versions of the smartphone. Improved battery life because of the new generation chipset, it gives more than a day’s worth of battery life on a charge.
Honestly, I liked most of the features, solid built, excellent for multi-tasking, good performance, assuring camera and finally good battery. Asus Zenfone 3 is perfectly priced. If you’re looking to buy a smartphone for best camera, design and good display, then this your smartphone!
